End of year reflection

It seems that in the quiet seasons, we really learn what it means to listen.  To wait.  To hope.

As the end of another year draws near, it is only right to say good-bye to what lies behind and hello to what lies ahead.  To let go of the old and chase after the new.  The fresh.  The yet-to-be discovered.

For me, the past year has been filled with a lot of listening.  Waiting.  Hoping.  Dreaming.  Being sensitive to a timetable bigger than myself.  Pressing in before being able to fully press on.

And yet a new season is coming.  One to be filled with discovery.  Life.  Growth.

But one thing that I have learned this year, is not to diminish the value of the in-between.  The after-this and before-that times.  It seems that it is in these seasons that we learn some to the most important truths.  Truths that we need before we can fully move forward…

One of many this year, has been the art of being faithful in the little things.  What it means to…give.  To release the clenched fist.  To live with an open heart, and even an open wallet.

Giving brings hope.  I have found myself on the receiving end to this equation.  But now it is time to plant and sow my own harvest.  Be a giver of hope to those like me..

As a graduate of Mercy Ministries, I gave back this season.  Not because I had to.  Not because it was some sort of requirement.  I gave this Christmas because I wanted to.  Because daily I am able to wake up and still reap the benefits of those who generously opened their hearts and wallets and poured out what God had given them to change the lives of girls in need of… truth.  Not government-packedged psychology.  Not behavior modification.  Truth.  That transforms the heart.  That redeems what is broken and lost.  That brings hope, life, and…new seasons.

A new season is coming...

A new season is coming…

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” -Romans 15:13

May God fill you with hope this season in believing.  The best is yet to come!
